South Craig's New Development

Community Council allay traveller fears.

Southcraig and Dean Community Council have gained agreement from Hallam land to keep the Northcraig farm houses occupied throughout the planning process and for the foreseeable future, removing fears from residents, that the empty properties and unattended land would have become an instant target for the travellers who left such a mess last year, when they occupied ground, adjacent to the Rowallan Trading Estate.

S+D. C.C. leader Ian Grant said " Most people in Southcraigs are against this housing development for a wide variety of legitimate reasons. As residents ourselves. The C.C. and it's officers must be prepared to engage with anyone, including the developer, Hallam land, to maintain the integrity and safety of Northcraigs Farm + Cottages and the surrounding grasslands. It's very important to us all, that we prevent traveller occupation of the property that could lead to a pile up of rubbish and mess"

"Last years occupation at Rowallan Trading Estate and the subsequent mess, caused huge disruption to residents. In particular, parents of young children and dog walkers. As many will remember, It took weeks to clear up. Our Community Council will do everything we can to keep Hallam to their word. They have guaranteed us they will ensure proper security is maintained throughout, thus preventing a repeat of last year"
